At the core of our culture is the Japanese concept of Omotenashi—a centuries-old Japanese approach to serving guests.  This word can be broken into two parts: “omote,” meaning “other side,” and “nashi,” meaning “none”. Loosely translated, it means “no ulterior motive,” or in the context of hospitality, “to serve in a sincere and genuine manner.”
